Overcast skies and the occasional shower did nothing to deter the crowds visiting Cottingham’s 6th annual Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 16th September. By midday the sun was shining as thousands of people filled Market Green, Hallgate and King Street to sample some of the finest food and drink produced in East Yorkshire and further afield.
The wide range of stalls included many regular favourites plus a host of new faces exhibiting their products in Cottingham for the first time – these included White Gables Confectionery and East Yorkshire Beer Company both from Beverley and Totally Baked Pies and Priory Vodka from near York.
Brian Turner CBE once again headlined in the cookery theatre and proved as popular as ever, drawing a large crowd for each of his three demonstrations while local chefs Chris Harrison of Shoot The Bull in Hull and Gareth Bartrum from Winteringham Fields just across the Humber also proved highly popular with the audience.
The Festival attracts a large number of visitors to Cottingham and that must be good news for the village in the longer term. We were fortunate to take on the running of this already thriving festival and are confident that we can further build on that success and make it one of the premier food events in the whole of the North of England.
Thanks to all who came along and enjoyed the day! See you next September!
